Holy Orders is the Sacrament by which men become priests and are given a sacred power to act in the person of Christ in order confect Christ’s Body/Blood and offer it up to the Father at the Mass for the remission of sins; to forgive sins through the Sacrament of Penance; to solemnly baptize; to preside during the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony; to offer Anointing of the Sick to the dying; to preach; and to otherwise teach, govern, and sanctify their parish family.

Christ the King Catholic Center at LSU provided me with constant access to Confession and the Eucharist as well as a place to pray in the midst of so many questions and agony in the discernment to choose to leave everything and follow Jesus. I also established friendships at CTK who I have now married, baptized their children, and continue to share the joys and struggles of life together. I would not be the man nor the priest I am today without my years at LSU and CTK.
Fr Andrew Gutierrez (Diocese of New Orleans)
Eucharistic Adoration, Frisbee Fridays, daily Mass, late-night jam sessions, Tiger Awakening, 24/7 finals week, the Passion play… The vibrant faith life and community at CTK led me to a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ that enabled me to hear him call me to His Holy Priesthood, with lifelong friends who continue to support me along the way.
Fr. Taylor Sanford (Diocese of Baton Rouge)
Christ the King provided me with a unique Catholic fraternity that allowed me to grow in holiness and acceptance of the call God placed on my heart. Between the liturgical and devotional life, the classes offered, and the community of students pursuing the face of the Lord, Christ the King was a holistic Catholic parish geared toward the sanctity of the students.
Fr. Stephen Pellessier (Diocese of Lafayette)
I think it is genius that Christ wanted us to live, grow, and worship as a community, a family, a Church. CTK is a community of incredible people who loved the Lord and loved having fun. I was blessed to never be alone in living out my faith at LSU.
Fr. Peyton Plessala (Diocese of Mobile, AL)
While college was full of class, relationships, and especially student tickets, the highlight and home of my time at LSU was the community and comfort of Christ the King. I grew immensely in my faith during those years and ultimately heard the Lord’s call to the priesthood. CTK was one of the most influential places for me in my discernment process.
Fr. JD Matherne (Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux)
My time at CTK is a life-defining memory. When I was hopelessly unfulfilled in my studies, when I was lonelier than ever, I began going to Daily Mass at CTK and just never stopped. I discovered friends who wanted holiness like I did, friends that I’ve kept to this day. When I left LSU to enter seminary, my professors probably thought I was a failure. CTK helped me see it as a victory.
